NOTE:
The firmware update programs must be saved in the CarChip
directory. You must also update your CarChip Software to version
2.2.0 or your CarChip will not connect to your PC. This is
a free update, available under the "Software/SDK."
Important
Information: Firmware version 2.22 was removed for quality
control. We are dedicated to bringing you the latest and highest
quality firmware possible. We will reinstate version 2.22
when it is available.
Software
vs. Firmware
A software or firmware update makes a permanent changeusually
an improvement in features, in performance, or to correct
errors. Software is a broad term for the programs running
on any physical electronic device. Firmware is permanently
placed in a device for the critical instructions it needs
to run (like telling the device what to do when a "power"
button is pushed). Firmware is generally not accessible by
the end user to be removed or adjusted like software is.
